How I Began to Find My Abundant Life

You will note that my first blog gave some broad strokes to what my “ordinary” life looked like up to my real awakening.  It was most likely a very familiar story to many of yours.  I did what was expected of me…I played by the rules…I was a good girl..I was a pleaser..a loyal, obedient daughter, friend, employee…a loving mom (still am :))..a loving loyal spouse (still)…set up everyone around me to excel….everyone….except me.

First Steps to My Personal Empowerment Transformation

The Physical: So that’s the recap.  After my sudden moment of reckoning, I needed to get busy finding the girl I lost somewhere in the transition from child, to adolescent, to adult.  I’m pretty sure I lost her quite a ways back there as I was on a divergent path of pleasing the masses in spite of myself.   At any rate this began the slow walk out of the fog and into the light!  I started simple to be honest…even practical (as I always am…too pragmatic for my own good at times), I decided to look at the things about my life that I didn’t like and had some control of and wanted to change.  As you can image, the very first stop was…….weight!  Yes, I know, very original.  Perhaps not original but still very deeply bothersome.  I have much more to say on that topic now that I am a year and a half removed from it but my search led to, another life changing, out of the box concept that was a huge revelation for me then….Intermittent Fasting.  More on that later…it played a big role in my transformation….not just the physical but it was the absolute springboard into my bigger transformation.  It provided a sense of control, confidence, EMPOWERMENT and more than that, was so pivotal in my journey since I was lacking all of those things (secretly..of course….never let them see you sweat!)

The Personal Passion: So what next?…Got the body transformation in motion now what am I going to do with that.  Well of course….BALLET!  Adult Ballet.  Why? Well remember I was trying to get in touch with myself and I began to chase the low hanging fruit first in order to feel like I was doing something to move the dial a bit in my life.  After asking myself countless times, what do I even like to do?  Do I have any possible hobbies?  Two things that came to me were nutrition/diet/body information and dancing.  Not fitness…dancing.  I had never and will probably never have the appetite for hard-core fitness like cross-fit and the like, but I have always been drawn to dance of any type and things that line up more with that.  So I ran straight away to sign up for Zumba classes first…that was the easiest to find.  I then searched a little more and found adult ballet.  That was the next great frontier in my personal liberation project.  I was determined to do things that were out of the box for me and pushing my comfort levels to the edge.  This definitely did that.  I had to relearn a lot of ballet vernacular and recall from my 10 yr old self the appropriate alignment of your body when doing all of these steps.  It was horrifying & exhilarating all at one time!!  I loved it!  What a rush I would be on going into and coming out of dance class in the evening………which that was another not small detail….I had to demand time in the evening to make myself a priority and not just be the taxi cab driver.  I had to say, no I’m not available to pick up from basketball practice on Tues & Thurs because I have a class that I have to attend!  Wow, that doesn’t seem like a big deal on its face but believe me it was so empowering for me and made me begin to feel like my life was full and meaningful…too!

More….there is much much more to this story….Happiness and Self-Discovery is a life long journey…but some of the best changes were yet to come little did I know!!!

Stay tuned for the Nuts & Bolts of HOW TO FIND YOURSELF AND THE BEST VERSION OF YOUR LIFE POSSIBLE….IT’S REALLY SO EASY IT’S ALMOST INSULTING!!!! :):)  FOLLOW ME I WILL SHOW YOU THE WAY.
